Need an outside eye?

Are you currently in the midst of an R & D period – or will be sometime soon, and feel like you could do with an outside eye? Interdisciplinary dance artist Lewys Holt is currently looking to engage with companies to hone his own practice as a dramaturg and is offering 3-5 days as an outside eye on emerging work from artists at any stage of their careers.

This will be paid for as part of his own Grant for the Arts Project, which is focused on developing his practice as well as researching and developing two new pieces an abstract dance piece Phrases and dance theatre show Footnotes.

Lewys’ practice, while focusing on dance, spans comedy, visual arts and devised theatre. His dance practice is concerned with release and improvisation, taking influences from Skinner releasing technique, Open Source Forms and Contact improvisation. He has worked with prominent international artists including Tino Sehgal, Sally Marie Frank Willens, Rosemary Lee and Florence Peake.

Lewys took his own solo show – Of Or At A Fairly Low Temperature to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe as part of the 2016 programme at Summerhall.  He has taught on the contemporary dance courses at  Lincoln and De Montfort University, and although Lewys’ speciality is dance and improvisation he has also been involved in a wide range of work from physical theatre to comedy chat shows – of which he recently was part of the comedy improv troupe Conversation Garden, which won ‘Best Improv Show’ in the 2018 Leicester Comedy Festival.
